Dirt Cake

Ingredients

1 (20 oz) pkg. cream filled chocolate sandwich cookies (oreo's cookies)
1/4c. or 1/2 stick of butter or margarine
1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. confectioners sugar
3 1/2 c. milk
2 (4 serving size) pkg. instant Chocolate pudding and pie filling
1 (8oz) container of cool whip
Clean Flower Pot or ceramic pot

Directions

Crush the cookies in a large plastic bag using a rolling pin, or use a food processor to crush
cookies. Cream together butter, cream cheese, and confectioners sugar.

In another bowl, cream together milk, instant pudding mix, and thawed cool whip. Combine the
two mixtures, mix well. Using the flower pot as a container, fill the pot with alternating layers of
cookie crumbs and pudding mixture, beginning and ending with cookie crumbs. Refrigerate.

Before serving, insert a flower in the middle. Place a few gummy worms on the top as
decoration. Serves 10 to 12.

You could also change this a little and use vanilla sandwich cookies and vanilla pudding... then
it becomes Sand cake... use a child's sandbox toy and a shovel instead of a flower pot.
Fragrant Potpourri

1 quart dried rose petals
2-4 dried petals from other fragrant flowers
2-3 tablespoons ground orrisroot
2-3 tablespoons well-crushed spices
(cloves, cinnamon, for example)
2-3 tablespoons crushed aromatic leaves
(rosemary, bay leaf, for example)
1-2 tablespoons grated citrus peel
6-10 drops aromatic oil
(rose, lilac, patchouli, jasmine, tuberose or neroli are some good choices)

Put the dried flower petals in a large jar, then carefully mix them together. Mix the orrisroot, spices,
aromatic leaves and citrus peel. Then sprinkle the aromatic oil on top and seal the jar tightly. The
jar should only be filled half way with the mixture. Let the mixture stand in a dark place for 6
weeks. Agitate the mixture every 3 or 4 days, by shaking or turning the jar side to side. Take out
what you think would look nice placed in a beautiful bowl or container and set around the house.

In making this mixture for sachet use: crush mixture, place a small amount in a lace handkerchief
tied with a colorful ribbon. Fabric sewn bags are nice to be filled with this mixture and used to
attach to hangers in closets or placed in drawers between layers of clothes.
