Winter is over and there is a different scent in the air, it's called Spring.
Just as the animals awake from a long Winter's nap and look to see the first signs of warmth in the air, so do we
start anew.
Tiny little flowers begin to push their way up towards the rays of the sun. Trees that once shed their leaves are
beginning to sprout buds and take on a look of new life. Every dormant appearance now begins to form a
remarkable transformation.
People are like that too. Spring cleaning to starting a new project, maybe a new job, a new home or buying a
new car.
What is it about Spring that brings new beginnings?
Take this Spring and start a new garden project. Maybe building a garden gal for your flower or vegetable
garden. They are so easy to make and you will have people thinking it is you out in the garden. Take a 2x2
board about 4 feet 51/2 inches long. Then take finished pine boards that are cut, 5 1/2 x 1 " x 15 1/2 and place
them about 2 inches from each other. Make the first board go about 5 inches down from the top of the 4 ft.

You will need a soccer ball for the head, cut a slit in the ball, attach the ball to the 4 ft. board then screw this to
the board. Now take a piece of flat batting cut 27 x 27 and tie that onto the soccer ball and tie it up with twin.
Add hair from a doll to a floppy garden hat. Take the garden hat and place it onto the soccer ball head. Add a
beautiful flowered skirt to the frame and a long sleeved shirt. Add a scarf and a shawl. Very similar to making a
scare crow, but you are decorating it as a garden figure. Very fun to make and will be a pleasant addition to
your yard.
